The seventh edition of Shanghai Intelligent Building Technology reached a successful close, with a record-breaking increase in visitor attendance. The three-day event welcomed 12,762 professional visitors from 50 countries and regions, a 62% increase from its 2012 edition. Held from 25 – 27 September at its new venue, Shanghai New International Expo Centre, the fair presented a comprehensive collection of the latest technologies and solutions in intelligent building development from around the world. In total, 135 exhibitors participated in the 2013 show, and utilised 10,000 sqm of exhibition space.

Ms Lucia Wong, Deputy General Manager, Messe Frankfurt Shanghai Co Ltd commented: “I am more than pleased with the performance of the show’s 2013 edition. Exhibitors overwhelmingly expressed positive views on both the professionalism of the show, and our visitors. Suppliers enjoyed the opportunity to have in-depth discussions with potential buyers who were well-versed in the benefits of intelligent building technology. I believe this confirms the importance of this show to the growing regional market.”

The latest edition of the Shanghai fair focused on the three themes currently highest in demand across East China: building energy efficiency, intelligent cities and smart homes. Professionals involved in property development, such as system integrators, architects, engineers, designers and contractors served as the fair’s target buying audience. To assist them in easily meeting relevant suppliers, two thematic zones entitled Building Energy Saving, Energy Management & Building Automation and Generic Cabling were set up across the fairground. These zones allowed both exhibitors and visitors to maximise their time in targeting appropriate buyers and finding the right solutions. Some of the brands that participated in these areas included HaiLinfeng, Lierda, Longchuang, Molex, Persagy Energy Saving Technologies, Regin Controls, Telege and UCS.

First-time exhibitor, Control4, joined the fair to promote their personalised automation and control solutions to the regional market. Mr Augustine Wen, Asia Territory Sales Manager shared: “Our main goal was to look for distributers to help sell our products. Through the fair, we hoped to reach approximately 80 to 100 target distributers to further discussions. The visitor flow of the fair was better than we expected.”

Fellow exhibitor, NorthQ, a Z-Wave Alliance member, also saw the Shanghai show as an opportunity to build brand awareness as they grow their business in China. Mr Christian von Scholten, CEO of the company said: “It is our first year joining the fair. I was very satisfied with the flow and the professionalism of visitors. In fact, a great amount of visitors to our booth were from overseas. I am very impressed with the show’s results and will definitely return next year.”

“The visitor quantity and quality at the show were very good. We even met buyer delegates from Italy. We feel very positive about the results of our participation, and will definitely come back next year.”

For first-time visitor, Mr Zou Haoyu, Manager, Chongqi Song Ri Technology Co., Ltd., the fair provided an excellent assortment of international brands with quality products.
