The Web Editor Support is part of the Coordination Office mandate in the ESA Directorate of Human Spaceflight Directorate (D/HSF).

The Support is aimed to raise the profile and visibility of the Directorate’s activities across the Agency in the short, medium and long-term, and to provide the best means of communicating objectives, news and events, primarily to Agency employees, but also to key external stakeholders, the general public and the media.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage webpage content and navigation structure and generate improvements to websites managed by D/HSF, and based on the “Liferay CMS” platform;
  • Draft and publish HSF articles on both the ESA Internal Web Portal (Intranet), and on the external websites managed by D/HSF;
  • Develop and maintain a new HSF Intranet Community Site on the ESA Intranet in close coordination with the Site Manager. This task will specifically include:
    • Developing a Prototype (off-line) Site according to an already baselined Detailed Design Specification and Plan, for approval by HSF management;
    • Launching the new Site online with the support of a strong internal communication campaign;
    • Conducting an internal user survey/ evaluation after 6 months and introducing modifications as required;
    • All publishing activities necessary for generating at least two stories for the HSF Intranet Community Site per month in close coordination with the HSF Intranet Community Site Manager;
    • All publishing activities necessary for the timely maintenance and update of the HSF Intranet Community Site;
    • Recommending proposals for the evolution of the Site.
  • Coordinate the production of ad-hoc artwork and illustrations across all media;
  • (Monthly) Reporting to management on progress, including an up-to-date plan of articles/ stories to be published on the HSF Intranet Community Site (or other);
  • Interface with ESA entities as required, in particular with the ESA Internal Communication Office (LEX-CI) for the ESA Intranet.

Specific Qualification Requirements:

  • Strong attention to detail and an excellent command of the English language, especially written;
  • Commercial and proven experience in web design, editing and maintenance;
  • Excellent experience working with HTML, CSS and Photoshop (or similar);
  • Some web marketing experience or knowledge of search engine optimisation;
  • Strong content management skills;
  • Some knowledge of the web editing features provided by the "Liferay CMS" platform;
  • Knowledge of the ESA Human Spaceflight programmes and related activities;
  • Ability and willingness to work to demanding deadlines.

Support Period: 01 Oct 2009 to 31 Dec 2011 with possible extension
Remuneration: Depending on candidate qualifications
